Vision:

Cecile House’s vision is to transform and develop one community at a time the rural population of Haiti by empowering through free education and financial freedom the approximately five million people who dwell in those communities.

Mission:

Our mission is to build a structurally sound, disaster proof school that provides quality, primary level education to children in Lompre Leogane, Haiti. Currently, the only source of education in Lompre, where the literacy rate is as low as 20%, is provided by Cecile House Academy.  We aim to improve the literacy rate to 50% or more. Further, we want to begin creating a highly-skilled workforce in Lompre by implementing a literacy program that teaches basic reading and writing skills to young adults as well as a non-formal/vocational training program that focuses on the areas of agriculture, computers and technology, allied health care and home practical skills (e.g., sewing, knitting, and crafting).  We anticipate that our efforts will achieve a greatly improved-quality of education in the community, which will foster stronger critical thinking skills, innovation and a thriving labor market for years to come.  Education is a key element in furthering overall development and in building a more civically and economically invested community.

Our primary site is located 20 miles Southwest of Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince in a small rural town called Lompre in Leogane. Our programs foster sustainable community development and offer an enriching education to hundreds of students and their families annually. We hire qualified instructors to teach the required subjects like Reading, Writing, History, Math, Science and French (While instruction is normally conducted in Creole, CeCile house recognizes that proficiency in French is still a great asset  to the success of a Haitian child living in Haiti). We fundamentally believe that being born as an underprivileged child is not an ordained destiny.

Your generous donation will help us fund a brighter tomorrow for the children of Haiti. All contributions are tax deductible. CeCile House is a 501©(3) tax-exempt charity.

Our organization offers free education to the children of Lompre at the CeCile House Academy .  The school employs a staff that includes a principal, six school teachers, one teacher aide, and a cook; providing a source of income for their families.  The school is made of six classrooms that accommodate 90 students in three kindergarten classes and 70 students in three fundamental classes.  Through the weekly donations made by the World Food Programme (WFP) of bagged rice, beans, oil , salt and High Energy Biscuits we are able to provide our students with free daily lunches. In addition, the donations also allow us to distribute food to the students’ families.
